Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta, through the Bureau of Student Affairs, held a two-day mural competition on 18 and 19 March 2023, where the competition has been open since January. A total of 22 best sketches are planned to be registered as HAKI or Intellectual Property Rights.
Alaiky Uswatun Ulya is an English Language Education student in the class of 2021 who is the winner and the one of the participants in the competition.
“I got this information from the UMS Student Affairs Instagram and there were several friends who sent the information to me. I was not confident in participating in this competition by choosing the individual category, but thanks to the support and enthusiasm of my friends, I finally ventured,” said Alaiky with a smile.
The student, who is familiarly called Alaiky, also shared his difficulties when completing his murals.
“My work takes Surah Al Furqon verse 61 with the aim of conveying the incomparable greatness of Allah. There were some difficult things like grading the sky, but I was able to finish it well and satisfied.”
With the work themed on the verses of kauniyah, Alaiky won first place in the Mural Competition held by the UMS Student Affairs Bureau in 2023. He also advised all students, especially DEE FKIP UMS, to be able to recognize their potential and dare to keep trying.
Alaiky’s achievement is fresh air for the entire UMS academic community, especially DEE FKIP UMS. Where success begins with the courage not to be afraid of failure. So, what are you waiting for?
