Literary Celebration 2.0 Day 2: Performative Literature as Ecological and Spiritual Reflection

The second day of Literary Celebration 2.0, held on December 16, 2025, continued to explore the theme “Lumia Rakia: Islamic Planetary” through a series of performative literary presentations and academic dialogue. Day 2 emphasized literature as a living practice that cultivates ecological awareness and spiritual reflection within an educational context.

Poetry readings and fictional performances presented by DEE FKIP UMS students highlighted the relationship between humans and nature, environmental degradation, the loss of cosmic harmony, and the longing for spiritual balance. Metaphorical and symbolic language was used to deliver ecological critique while preserving aesthetic value. The fictional narratives portrayed moral dilemmas faced by individuals and communities, particularly the tension between exploitation and responsibility, greed and trust (amanah), grounded in Islamic ethical values.

Short films produced by students further strengthened the eco-theological message through powerful visual storytelling. Nature was depicted not merely as a background, but as a subject with intrinsic value. Through audiovisual media, students conveyed the idea that environmental crises demand a transformation in how humans perceive nature and their relationship with God.

According to Dr. Phil. Dewi Candraningrum, Literary Celebration 2.0 encouraged students to view literature as an ethical and spiritual space. She emphasized that literature is deeply intertwined with faith, ecology, and humanity, enabling students to articulate ecological anxiety as well as hope through creative works.

The event was attended by UMS students, senior high school students, and teachers from SMA, SMK, and MA in Surakarta and surrounding areas. This diverse audience expanded the educational impact of the event and opened dialogue on value-oriented and sustainability-based literary learning. Dr. M. Thoyibi noted that the celebration represented a form of contextual and transformative learning, fostering ethical sensitivity among future educators.

Through Literary Celebration 2.0, FKIP UMS reaffirmed its commitment to developing literary education that responds to global environmental and spiritual challenges. With the spirit of Lumia Rakia: Islamic Planetary, the event presented literature as a source of enlightenment that nurtures aesthetic sensitivity while guiding humanity toward harmonious coexistence with nature as God’s creation.
