Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta has achieved notable success in the selection of the Student Creativity Program (PKM) 2023 funded by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti), with a remarkable 30 teams securing their positions, 9 of which originate from the Faculty of Teacher and Training. Out of these nine, only two teams from Department of English Education managed to succeed. This accomplishment brings a pride to the department, given the fierce competition and the quality of the submitted projects.
The first team consists of Siti Alda Ibrahim as the team leader; Najwa Al Tarika, Muhammad Albi Almahdy, Muhammad Hananfajri R, and Muhammad Haikal Zaki as the members; accompanied by Nurhidayat, S.Pd., M.Ed as the supervisor; proposing a project titled “Program SURA-ABK (Studio Lukis Surakarta Anak Berkebutuhan Khusus) Untuk Mengembangkan Kemampuan Motorik Halus ABK di SLB Negeri Colomadu.”
The second team includes Edward Chia Muhammad Fikri as the team leader; Harsya Fikri Ananda, M. Amdan Afdzulah, Amelia Wahyu Anggraini Putri, and Amelia Riski Dian Pramukti as the members; accompanied by Susiati S.Pd M.Ed as the supervisor; proposing a project named “Bahasa Negosiasi Penjual dan Pembeli dengan Latar Belakang Etnis yang Berbeda di Pasar-Pasar di Kota Surakarta.”
The success of these two teams exemplifies the dedication and commitment of DEE towards research and innovation. It also reaffirms DEE’s standing in generating creative ideas capable of competing at a national level and contributing to the realm of research and education in Indonesia.
