EDSO in collaboration with DEE, conducted a community service program entitled “LEO (Learning English and Joyful) through Games for Village Children at MI N Kendel, which aims to improve the English ability of the children through games. After this program, it is hoped that students at MI N Kendel can improve their ability and confidence to speak in English, and be more enthusiastic in learning English. Since the lesson was delivered mostly in fun way, such as using games, it was also hoped that students will not think English is very difficult anymore, but it can be fun and interesting to learn.
During the activity, there were two DEE students in each class to conduct English and learning activity. They provided material to the students according to the students’ level and the materials were taught mostly in games which is really fun for the students. There was also some donation given to MI N Kendel in the form of stationery, bookshelves, fans and cleaning tools.
For DEE students, this program is also very useful for their learning to be a good English teacher. This program can increase their creativity and insight in learning English. Learning English can be done in many fun ways, and it makes students understand the material presented. They will also have the real experience in teaching English which is very important for them to improve their confidence in teaching.
