On 9 April 2021, DEE UMS conducted a workshop to enhance teachers’ professionalism in this month. This workshop was participated by mostly English High school teacher in Surakarta, Indonesia. Titis Setyabudi M.A, was the moderator of this event and he stated that that this workshop was one of the program of DEE UMS aimed to help English teacher to improve their understanding in some newest trend in English teaching and learning practice.
There were four presenters in this workshop and all of them presented the result of their research regarding the newest trend of teaching and learning for EFL students in Indonesia. The first presenter was Sigit Haryanto, M.A who delivered his research about the Philosophy of Culture in EFL. During his presentation, he discussed also the process of culture development in Indonesia.
The next presenter was Dr. Dwi Haryatmi, M.Hum and she discussed her research entitled “Reading Comprehension and Reading for Translation”. This research mostly talked about the importance of reading comprehension in the translation process. The other two presenters in this workshop were Mauly Halwat Hikmat, Ph.D and Aryati Prasetyarini, M.Pd who both delivered their presentation regarding the teaching method in English classroom activity during the pandemic situation.
