In order to prepare students to face the rapid changes of the industrial world, university needs to update their curriculum which will be more adaptive to the newest trend of technology and social life of the people. University is challenged to be able to create innovative teaching and learning program which is able to facilitate students to achieve the ultimate goals of their learning process in three aspects; behavior, knowledge, and skills. Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) is the newest policy from Ministry of Education of Indonesia which is hoped to answer this challenge.
On Wednesday, April 7, 2021, DEE UMS conducted the workshop on developing Outcome Based Curriculum (OBE), which is the application of MBKM policy. This workshop was participated by all the lecturers of DEE, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. This workshop also invited some English lecturers from other universities, which are the members of Indonesian English Education Study Program Association (APSPBI).
The presenter of this workshop was Prof. Dr. Edy Cahyono, M.Si, member of MBKM Curriculum Development Team of Ditjen DIKTI from Semarang State University. During the workshop, he mentioned that all university in Indonesia need to develop this new curriculum in order to adapt with the rapid changes of the world. It is hoped that we can prepare students to be more adaptive with the rapid development of the technology.
