As part of its commitment to community engagement, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) conducted an English language training program for teachers of Amal Usaha Muhammadiyah (AUM) in Bayat District. The program was designed to respond to the increasing need for effective international communication, particularly as AUM Bayat teachers regularly host visitors from various countries through the BIPA Immersion Program organized by LBIPU UMS.
This training aimed to enhance teachers’ English proficiency in practical and professional contexts, including hospitality, intercultural communication, and everyday interaction. The learning activities were tailored to address real communicative situations faced by the participants, enabling them to engage with international guests in a confident, courteous, and meaningful manner.

Day 1 was conducted in a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere, introducing participants to essential communicative themes such as Getting to Know You and Welcoming Guests, Home and Family Life, and School and Education. These sessions laid a strong foundation for effective interaction in both formal and informal settings.

The program continued on Day 2 with more intensive practice focused on communication fluency and accuracy. Through sessions on Daily Conversation, Pronunciation and Listening, and Cultural Exchange, participants developed greater confidence and adaptability in using English while navigating cross-cultural interactions.
Overall, this training reflects a meaningful collaboration between UMS and AUM Bayat in strengthening teacher capacity and professionalism. By enhancing language competence and intercultural awareness, the program contributes to preparing Muhammadiyah educators who are responsive to global engagement and capable of representing their institutions in international contexts.
