On 19 July 2017, DEE invited Dr. William Little, a RELO officer in Jakarta, to become a speaker to introduce his RELO programs to DEE students. When he visited UMS, he also met some fellow lecturers in DEE and other lecturers in FKIP UMS to discuss some issues regarding foreign volunteers in education area.

DEE, along with other departments in FKIP UMS has just sent off its students to join the teaching internship program in schools all over Indonesia as well as abroad. A team of UMS students joined a debate competition in NUDC (National University Debating Championship): Kopertis VI level in July 14 , 2017. One of them is a DEE student, Nur Indah Dwi Saputri. Program Pelatihan Kreativitas Mahasiswa (PPKM) 2017 PPKM merupakan sebuah pelatihan untuk mahasiswa menulis karya tulis ilmiah. Melalui kegiatan ini nantinya diharapkan para mahasiswa bisa mengahasilkan karya-karya tulis ilmiah. PPKM sendiri pada tahun ini dilaksanakan pada 5 April 2017.

   Kajian Ilmiah 2016 Kajian ilmiah adalah sebuah seminar yang dilaksanakan oleh EDSO serta rutin dilaksanakan tiap tahunnya. Pada tahun ini dilaksanakan pada 10 november 2016. Seminar ini juga terbuka untuk umum.
