The Vision of PBI Study Program FKIP UMS
The PBI Study Program’s vision is “To develop progressive English education and learning with the principles of constructivism based on English Communicative competence, Islamic values, and entrepreneurship.”
The vision of the UMS PBI Study Program has the meaning:
- Developing progressive English education and learning means: carrying out innovations in the delivery of education and learning according to the demands of the 21st century and equipping students with commendable morals, knowledge and skills in innovative English education and learning, global insight, and education towards professionalism,
- Language education and learning with the principle of constructivism means that the PBI Study Program carries out learning using a method that requires students to be active and critical in acquiring knowledge and skills. Learning with the principle of constructivism is learning that facilitates students to build their own knowledge through active learning.
- English Communicative Competence-based learning equips students to have the knowledge and competence to communicate using English that is grammatically correct in various social settings appropriately. These competencies include linguistic competence, sociolinguistic competence, strategic competence, and discourse competence.
- Islamic values are learning based on the noble values contained in the Al-Qur’an and Hadith which are universal, namely good personality integrity, honesty, piety and good character.
- Entrepreneurial values mean that students are trained to have initiative, skills, an independent spirit, innovation, tenacity, self-confidence, carefulness in seeing opportunities, and creativity in opening jobs in relation to mastery of the English language.
PBI Study Program Objectives
Based on this vision, the objectives of the PBI Study Program are as follows:
