Muhammdiyah University of Surakarta celebrated its 62nd Anniversary this October 2020. The celebration was conducted in 5 days from 16 – 23 October 2020, located in Edutorium UMS, Adi Sucipto St, Karangasem, Laweyan, Surakarta. There were so many activities during the celebration, such as senam masal, planting the tree, Udutorium tour, Video contest, and Photo contest.
Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the celebration was conducted in five days, the participants from many faculties of UMS joined based on the schedule. DEE was invited to join the celebration on Friday 16 October, 2020, as the first day of the celebration.
This celebration was started with “senam masal”, conducted in the east part of Edutorium. Then, the activity was continued with the speech from Drs H A Dahlan Rais M.Hum, Chief of BPH UMS, and Prof Dr. Sofyan Anif, M.Si., as the Rector of Muhammadiyay University of Surakarta.
Dahlan Rais said that the theme of UMS 62nd Anniversary was “Tetap Berprestasi di Era Pandemi”. According to him, this campus must make a real contribution to society. “Starting from small things, then spreading the solution to bigger problems such as poverty in education,” he said.
Meanwhile, Sofyan Anif said that it is the great moment to build good culture in UMS. “Everyone here has a responsibility to make contribution. In the last three years, we have accomplished so many achievements, “he said.
The event then was continued with tree planting around the auditorium area by each study program, including the English Education study program (DEE). This activity was carried out following the health protocol.
